Subway singer shocks James Corden, brings 'Late Late Show' band leader to tears

After belting out tunes on the 23rd Street subway stop in New York City, Mike Yung is hitting the big time.

After video of him singing The Righteous Brothers' timeless "Unchained Melody" went viral on YouTube, it got the attention of Late Late Showhost James Corden, who invited him to perform on Wednesday's show.

"It has had over 40 million hits in a week, this guy has gone from singing on the subway to being a genuine international sensation. I was desperate to find out who he was and find out his name," Corden said.

Corden flew the New Yorker to Hollywood to perform. Accompanied by a guitarist, Yung didn't just wow the crowd, but the host himself, who watched with his hands covering his mouth most of the time.

Corden, who had a visible smile when he was not covering his mouth, then spoke to the singer after the inspiring performance.

"Mike, what's it been like since that video was posted online?" Corden asked.

"It's been awesome, man," the 56-year-old said. "I got to meet you!"

A humble Corden then reciprocated the feeling, saying: "I got to meet you!"

The crowd gave Yung a standing ovation as band leader Reggie Watts wiped tears from his eyes.
