New clues emerge in cold case linked to Manson family killings

Police in Los Angeles have released sketches of two men wanted in connection with the death of a 19-year-old Canadian woman. The woman was found stabbed to death in 1969, possibly in connection to the Manson family killing.

The woman, Reet Jurvetson, was found stabbed 150 times on Mulholland Drive, close to where Sharon Tate and four others were stabbed to death by the Manson family a few months earlier.

For decades, the victim was known as Jane Doe No. 59 until detectives identified her last year using DNA from her sister, who recognized her body after she saw a photo online.

Reet supposedly traveled to Los Angeles to meet a friend. She kept in touch with her family, but as time went by they stopped hearing from her.

A missing report was never filed, the family thought she was in search of more autonomy and thought she had started a new life for herself.

A former Manson prosecutor said he believed the woman was killed because she had witnessed another suspected Manson family slaying.

Her family has asked for privacy:
My desire is that my privacy be respected as I process the shock and grief associated with this news. I have been in regular contact with Detective Luis Rivera of the Los Angeles Police Department since the summer of 2015. All future information and/or inquiries are to be made to Mr. Rivera, and not to me. My hope is that this web page will also answer the questions that will no doubt arise about who Reet was, where she came from, and what she was doing in California.
