Former Giants punter Steve Weatherford has an insanely strict fitness plan

Updated

Steve Weatherford eats four times the recommended protein serving every day.

So while you're trying to fit in your 50 grams of protein, the former New York Giants punter is crushing you with 200 grams of scrambled egg whites, bunless turkey burgers and lean ground beef lasagna.

When it comes to dining out, Weatherford will usually eat his protein-heavy spread before leaving home and opting for a salad at the restaurant.

This is abnormal for the generalized "wimpy" position of a punter. Weatherford doesn't disagree with the stereotype, but he isn't wimpy at all. In fact, some had labeled him the NFL's fittest man.

His workout routine might be the only thing more rigorous than his diet. His "easy" day includes a 2-plus hour session at the gym with nearly 400-pound bench press reps. The cryotherapy appointment that follows is the cherry on top.

"Easy" day. Right.

His teammates often ask the question we're all wondering. How is he's so determined when it comes to his nutrition?

"I have little man syndrome," Weatherford told Muscle & Fitness. "As a kid I was always very athletic and very fast. I was always good at sports, but I wasn't big and I wasn't strong. I wasn't big enough to compete at an elite level, so I developed an elite work ethic. I'm glad that it happened the way it did, because I wouldn't have developed that work ethic otherwise."
