Behind the collection: NYFW Designers share their spring inspiration

While New York Fashion Week might take place in during a single week (well, technically 8 days), the designers and their teams are working on the collections for several months leading up to the big presentations. Before the shows kick off this Thursday, we tapped some of our favorite designers to give us a sneak peek -- a look behind the curtain at the inspiration behind their latest creations.

"Iris" is the word for Marchesa (and you know Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig will gorgeously bring that to life!) while Monique Lhuillier gives us a glimpse with "ethereal modern romance" and Rebecca Minkoff was inspired by "1970s California surf culture."

No question about it, this coming week is bound to be quite a mixture of effortless, edgy, gorgeous and glam -- and we cannot wait.

Since we'll be seeing the Spring 2017 collections this September, the bright colors and free-flowing silhouettes are guaranteed to make you that much more nostalgic for the passing of summer '16. But some designers -- like Rebecca Minkoff -- will actually be showing you their fall collection. That's right, you can get excited for the coming season, and shop the show almost immediately. Pretty cool right?
