Penn State kicker levels Kent State kick returner

The Penn State Nittany Lions opened their 2016 season on Saturday, as they welcomed the Kent State Golden Flashes to Beaver Stadium. The Lions are trying to re-establish themselves as a contender in the Big Ten, but the conference is loaded once again. The team has one of the best highlight makers in the conference in running back Saquon Barkley, but on Saturday, it was their kicker who had the crowd rocking.

The Nittany Lions kicker is a big man. Joey Julius tips the scale at over 250 pounds, which is quite big for a kicker. Not only does he possess a body unlike any other that plays his position, outside of Oakland Raiders kicker Sebastian Janikowski, but he also does not hit like a kicker.

With 8:02 left in the second quarter, and the Lions winning 13-6, Joey Julius kicked off to Kent State. As Kavious Priuce took the ball up the right sideline, he was greeted by Julius who laid him out. It is not often that you get to see a kicker thrash a return man, so this is a highlight that is worth checking out.

Kent State has hung tough against the Nittany Lions up until this point, as they currently only trail by 3 points late in the second quarter. The Golden Flashes were picked by the coaches in the MAC to finish dead last in the conference's East Division. They have been playing out of their minds in Beaver Stadium, and the Nittany Lions are currently on upset alert.

Odds are that Penn State will pull the game off, but it does not look good for a program that has to face the likes of Ohio State and Michigan in the coming weeks.
