Photographer gives family with terminally ill baby free portraits
DENVER (KDVR) -- A family is out $150 after bidding on a gift certificate for professional portraits at a local auction.
Barbara Vallejos purchased the gift so her family could pose together with 6-month-old Nathanial, who has a rare brain condition.
The photographer never showed up for the session, but since the, dozens of people have been volunteering to help the family.
"That's all we want is just these memories," said Brianna Vallejos, Nathanial's mother.
Barbara Vallejos said she set up a time to meet with the original photographer from Riza Photography, but the woman never showed up to the shoot.
"We don't know how long we have with him. We want to remember him the way he is now, the happy baby we see," Brianna Vallejos said.
After receiving dozens of messages from viewers, the family decided to meet with local photographer, Lupe Aguilar. He snapped their portraits free of charge.
"I'm very grateful I have the opportunity to do this for this family," Aguilar said.
"Lupe came out and made our wishes come true," Barbara Vallejos said.
Nathanial's mother said her baby has been sick and they were afraid the photo shoot would never happen.
"It's a big weight off our shoulders," Brianna Vallejos said.
