Approximately 1.3 billion tons of food is wasted each year across the globe and the app Too Good To Go hopes to change that.

Their app allows you to buy food from a restaurant for less than $5. Sounds great right?

Now, what if we told you that this is the food restaurants plan to throw away? Would you still order from the app?

Users can use the app to order food from participating restaurants -- collect it an hour before closing time -- fill up a to-go box with as much food as you like -- and enjoy.

Users can also utilize the Pay-it-Forward function to give meals to those in need.

Leftover food that gets thrown away ends up in landfills which can be hazardous for the environment. The company's mission is to save the planet, while saving food and saving you money.

Founded in Denmark, they've since grown internationally and plan to roll out into the U.S. soon. In America restaurants waste up to 84% of leftover food.

So if you're a fan of leftovers and cheap take-out this app is right up your alley.
