Is Ryan Lochte set to join the upcoming season of "Dancing With the Stars"?

PEOPLE reports that the 32-year-old Olympic swimming champion is in talks to join the 23rd season of the hit ABC reality dancing competition, which premieres on Sept. 12.

Lochte would join Amber Rose as the only other confirmed celebrity contestant on the next season of "DWTS," who announced she was joining the show on Wednesday.

As PEOPLE noted, ABC has famously never responded to casting rumors in the past, so there's no reason to expect anything different this time around. They're likely to host a grand unveiling of their upcoming cast, which has also been rumored to include fellow Team USA gold medalist, Simone Biles.

The reports come amid Lochte's controversial claims heard around the world that he was robbed at gunpoint after a celebratory night out during the Rio Olympics. His claims have been widely debunked following an investigation by the Rio police and, as a result, Lochte went on the "Today" show to apologize for his shocking lies.
