Tom Hiddleston encourages viewers to binge-watch his Emmy-nominated AMC miniseries "The Night Manager," because that's how it was designed by director Susanne Bier.

"We approached it as one story with its own integrity," Hiddleston said in an interview with TheWrap Friday. "We boarded all six in the same way you'd board a feature film. It was a 360-page script, and we treated it like a six-hour feature."

The British actor said he appreciates it when fans stop him in the street to tell him how absorbing the TV adaptation of John La Carre's 1993 crime novel is. "People seem to want to watch it in one or two sittings," he said. "It feels like a story that has its own propulsive momentum, and that's honestly how it was designed."

"It took me a year [to shoot] and all it takes is six hours [to watch]," he joked, emphasizing how much more time he'd invested in the series. "But that's OK. That's making art."

The miniseries, which also stars Hugh Laurie, Olivia Colman, David Harewood, Tom Hollander and Elizabeth Debicki, earned six Emmy nominations this year, including acting nods for Hiddleston, Laurie and Colman, as well as for writing, directing and Outstanding Limited Series.

"It takes people a long time to make things," the actor who also plays Loki in the "Thor" franchise said. "It takes people a long time to cut records and paint paintings. That's just the nature of making stuff."
