More than 25 others, infants and women, were also injured in the blaze at Yarmouk Hospital, the New York Times reported. The fire was sparked after an oxygen bottle exploded sometime after midnight, according to the Times.

The babies who were killed were in a ward designated for premature infants, Iraqi Ministry of Health spokesman Dr. Ahmed al-Rudaini told the Times.
