Mason Jar Watermelon Cake

It might not be as healthy as a watermelon, but it sure is cute (and delicious!). In honor of National Watermelon Day, what's better than making the favorite fruit into a cake?

All you need for this adorable, yummy creation:

  • White cake mix
  • Vegetable oil
  • Water
  • 3 eggs
  • Mini, semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Food coloring (red and green)

It's not actually watermelon flavored, but it looks like one! Just mix the cake mix with the called for amounts of water, oil and eggs, and then separate into two parts. Add 1 teaspoon of red food coloring to half, and green food coloring to the other half.

Adding mini chocolate chips to the red cake batter mimics the seeds of a watermelon (how cute!). Now, fill a mason jar halfway with the green batter, topping it off with red. Bake for about 15 minutes at 350 degrees, and voila! Watch above for more.
