Two Million Copies Sold In Two Days For Potter Script

The book sales for Harry Potter and the Cursed Childare in, and by Merlin's Beard are they magical! Scholastic has announced that the script for the West End play has sold over 2 million copies in just two days in North America alone. (And that's not counting e-books sold exclusively through Pottermore.)

Of course, that's nowhere close to the record-shattering 8.3 million copiesHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallows sold in 24 hours in 2007, but it's already one of the fastest-selling books in history. For further comparison, Rowling's last book (under her name), 2012's The Casual Vacancy, sold 375,000 copies in its first week.

In November, Rowling will have a shot at more history when the script for the upcoming film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Themis also released. So maybe now isn't the best time to stop milking the Harry Potter cash cow after all.
