In a recent interview with the Murder Master Music Show, Eminem's ex-bodyguard Myron Williams claims the rapper was nearly killed at the 2001 Source Awards by associates of his rival, Suge Knight.

According to Williams, author of the memoir Shady Bizzness, changes to the ceremony's seating chart that year meant that bodyguards weren't allowed to sit next to their artists, which left Eminem uncomfortably exposed.

"I noticed that, in the middle of the aisle, he's beefing with all these guys in red shirts," he told the show. "I noticed his face changing, and he's turning like, tomato-red. And there's a sea of red guys around him. I had to bust through the middle and snatch him up."

When pressed, Willaims says, the men said they were representing Knight's Death Row Records and had been sent to "strong-arm" Eminem. Luckily, with the assistance of Dr. Dre's bodyguards, Williams was able to get the rapper to safety: "We were in beast mode the whole time."

Knight has not responded to Williams's claim, as he is in jail awaiting trial for a series of felonies stemming from a 2015 incident in which the rap mogul ran over two men on the set of Straight Outta Compton, killing one.
