Instagram Fitness Stars Prove Looking Good Isn't About Numbers

By: Amanda Kabbabe/Keleigh Nealon

If you're constantly disappointed by the number on your scale, it's time to ditch your worries.

The scale is just one of many ways to measure progress, and it isn't even the best indication of health!

For those who remain skeptical, one fitness blogger is out to prove you can look good no matter what that dreaded number reads.

Kelsey Wells posted three photos of herself on Instagram. The first photo shows Wells at 145 pounds, after she gave birth to her baby. The second photo is of herself at 122 pounds, where she looks thinner.

The third photo shows the proof is in the pudding: she weighs 140 pounds, just five pounds less than she did postpartum, but she looks more fit than ever!

So, how did she do it?

She told her followers she stopped letting herself get hung up on numbers, and instead shifted her focus on progress by things that matter. To her, those things are strength, ability, endurance, health and happiness.

This trend has been hitting fitness lovers, and haters, everywhere. You'll see #screwthescale trending on Instagram, where side-by-side photos show how the inaccurate the number on the scale can be.

Wells attributes her progress to a program called "Beach Body Guide." It is a healthy lifestyle program designed to step off the weighing machine and into the gym.

Kayla Itsines, one of the program's founders, encourages people with results like Wells to contact her so she can repost inspiration on her account for others.

Judging by the amount of people with photographic evidence, it seems to work.

Now, does a scale go into the trash or recycling?
