DNC Apologizes At Convention To Sanders

Just as the Republican National Convention was seen by many to be fearmongering, the Democratic National Convention might be viewed, thus far, as naive.

In an email to reporters Monday, the RNC claimed that in the 61 speeches given on the first night of the DNC, there were "zero mentions of the global terrorist threat posed by ISIS."

Politifact confirmed this to be true.

"Based on our searches of C-SPAN closed-captioning text, Congressional Quarterly transcripts and other video archiving services, we couldn't find any speaker who mentioned 'ISIS,' 'Islamic' 'terror,' 'terrorist,' or 'terrorism' during the first day of the convention," Politifact reported.

In contrast, though the transcripts of only 16 speeches on the first day of the RNC were published on the convention website, speakers mentioned terrorism several times. GOP nominee Donald Trump also spoke on the topic in his acceptance speech:

ETHAN ROSENBERG FOR USNWR

Meanwhile, while the DNC got underway, Hillary Clinton spoke to at the annual Veterans of Foreign Wars convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Monday about the threat of radical Islamic terrorism.

"We have to protect ourselves against terrorists," she said. "To do that, we need to lead other countries in stopping ISIS, al-Qaida, and other radical jihadist groups. We shouldn't leave that to the rest of the world to figure out on their own. That won't keep us safe."
