Kentucky kids turn their punishment into community project
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Kentucky mom's punishment ultimately backfired when she told her teenage son, Travis, to go mow their neighbors' lawn.
It turned out he loved it so much, he ended up mowing eight lawns for free and recruited his two brothers and cousin to help him out.
The teens have continued, going door-to-door in their Louisville neighborhood offering up their free lawn care services called, "It Takes A Village, Together We Stand Strong" to anyone who might be in need.
Travis says the goal is to not only stave off summer boredom, but to also give back to the community and to stay out of trouble.
So far the community has rallied around them, with one resident even showing the boys how to care for their equipment.
While the teenagers don't take money for their services, a GoFundMe page has been set up to be used for equipment, maintenance and fuel.
Anything left over will go towards a trip to Disney, Travis' mom said, as a reward for their hard work.
