Authorities in Orange County, New York recently rescued an 81-year-old veteran who had reportedly been held against his will in a filthy motel room for at least 4 years.

His captor, 43-year old Perry Coniglio, had allegedly been keeping the man so he could steal his Social Security and pension checks.

WNBC reports, "Police said they had gotten complaints for years that Coniglio, who was posing as the victim's caretaker, was verbally abusing the elderly man. But when video surfaced that it turned more physical, they raided the motel Tuesday night."

The elderly man, who is suffering from dementia, has been placed in a care facility, notes WABC.

Coniglio is facing multiple charges including fourth-degree grand larceny, endangering the welfare of an incompetent person, and second-degree unlawful imprisonment.
