4 ways to play Pokémon Go at work (without getting fired)

Updated

While it's important to have a good work-life balance, you also need to have a good balance between work and playing Pokémon Go. And, as someone who is desperately trying not to drop everything I'm doing today at work in order to catch rare Pokémon myself, I felt it was timely to provide my fellow Pokémon Masters with some tips and advice for getting your Pokémon Go fix during the workday without getting yourself fired for it. Let's begin.

Any real trainer knows that rare Pokémon can be found in all kinds of places. Including, for example, in your office or on your boss's head. Unless you and your boss already have a clear and mutual understanding of playing Pokémon Go in your office, know that pointing your cellphone at your boss unexpectedly at work could come off as a little strange and put you in an awkward situation.

If you haven't figured it out by now, wild Pokémon don't come to you. You have to go to (or lure) them. With that being said, a great way to get your Pokémon Go fix is to take frequent Pokémon walks with your co-workers around your office neighborhood. So wrangle up your best trainers and compete to see who can fill up their Pokédex the quickest.

If you work in an area that has provided you with optimal weather conditions, try eating your lunch at a local park or outdoor venue instead of at your desk. Pro tip: You are more likely to find rare Pokémon in parks vs. on the street, so keep your eyes peeled and make sure you bring plenty of Pokéballs!

Volunteer to Run Errands for Your Co-Workers

You might not normally be the first to volunteer to get coffee or lunch for all of your co-workers, but by doing so you can essentially guarantee yourself a solid 10-15 minutes of uninterrupted Pokémon Go time. Not only that, but you can come back looking like an office hero. And nobody has to know you did it all for the glory of Pokémon, you selfless shining star of an employee!
