A China Southern Airlines plane became the latest victim of the country's freak storms, while it was trying to land at China's Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport on Saturday.

According to China Aviation Daily, pilots for the domestic flight CZ3483 from Guangzhou were preparing for landing when they met with a hailstorm in midair.

Chinese media outlets reported that the plane's radome — where weather radar and navigational equipment are stored — was also damaged by the storm.

Since the incident, the airline has posted on its Weibo account that its maintenance staff are currently working to fix the damage. In the meantime, the affected plane's scheduled flights have been transferred to another aircraft.
