The narrative of Ben Affleck and Matt Damon's friendship is one of the most popular pop culture stories in recent history.

Theirs is one of the most storied bromances in Hollywood: Childhood friends strike gold with their 1997 film, "Good Will Hunting," earning the boyish pair two Oscars, and leading to a career of working together and supporting each other's work for the next two decades.

The duo has worked together on numerous other projects like "Project Greenlight" and "Chasing Amy," and their newest, "The Runner" is sure to be another humungous hit for them.

"The Runner" is a groundbreaking new reality show that will be played out over the course of a 30-day period, and it's a show that Affleck and Damon have been trying to get made for almost 15 years. Their joint venture as executive producers of the innovative series marks almost 20 years since "Good Will Hunting," so we decided to look back at their best projects together through the years below.

"Field of Dreams"(1989)

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon appear as extras together during a scene in Boston's Fenway Park in this Kevin Costner film from 1989.

"School Ties" (1992)

The pair stars alongside Brendan Fraser and Chris O'Donnell in this American high school football drama that takes place in the 1950s, a time of heightened racial tension that plays out in the film.

"Glory Daze" (1995)

This coming-of-age flick follows Ben Affleck's character and his gang of friends as they prepare for the daunting world that is life after college. Matt Damon appears in a minor role, as do Matthew McConaughey, Leah Remini and Brendan Fraser.

"Good Will Hunting" (1997)

The film that truly launched the careers of Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, "Good Will Hunting" follows Damon's Will Hunting, a janitor at MIT who's an incredibly gifted mathematician that finds guidance from Robin Williams' character, Sean Maguire. Affleck co-stars as one of Hunting's friends.

"Chasing Amy" (1997)

Ben Affleck stars in this late-'90s film about two comic book artists who fall for the same woman and butt heads for the first time as they deal with her unexpected past. Matt Damon is also in the movie, albeit in a secondary role.

"Dogma" (1999)

This unique R-rated film follows Damon and Affleck, two fallen angels who have found a loophole that can get them back into heaven.

"Project Greenlight" (2001-2003, 2005, 2015)

This series, produced by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, sought to give up and coming filmmakers a chance to direct their first feature films, choosing one script out of thousands submitted each season to ultimately produce into a movie. The series ran for two seasons on HBO before moving to Bravo and eventually moving back to HBO 10 years later.

"The Third Wheel" (2002)

This little-known film from the early 2000s stars Denise Richards and Luke Wilson as co-workers who venture out on a first date and subsequently get interrupted by a homeless man. Ben Affleck plays one of Wilson's co-workers who bets on the outcome of the date, and Matt Damon appears in an uncredited role.

"Stolen Summer" (2002)

This was the first film produced by Affleck and Damon for their HBO docuseries, "Project Greenlight." It was one of approximately 7,000 scripts submitted for the television experiment.

"The Battle of Shaker Heights" (2003)

This dramedy was the winner of the second season of Damon and Affleck's "Project Greenlight." The pair co-executive produced the film together.

"Feast"(2005)

The winner of the third season of "Project Greenlight," this horror film was co-executive produced by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck and spawned two sequels.

"The Runner" (2016)

"The Runner" is an innovative, interactive reality competition that Matt Damon and Ben Affleck strove to get picked up for almost 15 years, before go90 and AOL.com picked it up to air throughout the month of July in 2016. It follows a "runner" who tries to cross the country undetected, avoiding getting caught by several groups of "chasers."
