Kanye West has received backlash for his controversial "Famous" music video depicting lifelike nude wax figures of celebrities like Taylor Swift, Chris Brown, Rihanna, Caitlyn Jenner, Bill Cosby and more. On Monday, Lena Dunham shared her disgust for the video on Facebook.

At first, she complimented West and his wife Kim Kardashian and their importance in pop culture. "But it's possible to hold two competing thoughts in your mind and the Famous video is one of the more disturbing 'artistic' efforts in recent memory."

Dunham talked about recent current event stories involving sexual assault, including Stanford rapist Brock Turner's light sentencing and Bill Cosby's alleged sexual assaults.

"Now I have to see the prone, unconscious, waxy bodies of famous women, twisted like they've been drugged and chucked aside at a rager?" said Dunham, referencing West's video. "It gives me such a sickening sense of dis-ease."

Dunham wrote that she is accustomed to nudity and sexuality in art, with parents who have both been involved in the art scene. She said that West's "Famous" music video "feels different."

"I don't have a hip cool reaction, because seeing a woman I love like Taylor Swift (f--- that one hurt to look at, I couldn't look), a woman I admire like Rihanna or Anna, reduced to a pair of waxy breasts made by some special effects guy in the Valley, it makes me feel sad and unsafe and worried for the teenage girls who watch this and may not understand that grainy roving camera as the stuff of snuff films."

She asked West to make statements on "whatever is on [his] mind" but said she doesn't want to watch his work if it's inspired by a culture that "makes women feel unsafe."

This isn't the first controversy involving West's song "Famous." His lyric about Swift in the song received criticism when it was released. In the song he says, ""I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/Why? I made that bitch famous."
