(Spoiler alert: Do not keep reading if you did not see the Season 3 finale of "Penny Dreadful")

"Penny Dreadful" fans will no doubt feel, well, dreadful upon learning that Showtime is ending the show after three seasons, TheWrap has confirmed.

Sunday night's Season 3 finale will serve as the official series finale for the supernatural drama, which starred Eva Green and Josh Hartnett.

In the finale, Hartnett's character Ethan Chandler shoots and kills Eva Green's Vanessa Ives. The episode ends with a very definitive "The End" on the screen.

This is the latest Showtime series to sign off the air this year. Matt LeBlanc's comedy series "Episodes" will wrap up its run after its upcoming fifth season. In addition, the Don Cheadle vehicle "House of Lies" just concluded after its own five season run.

Showtime's original slate now includes the high finance drama "Billions," the dramedy "Shameless," perennial favorite "Homeland," as well as "Ray Donovan," "Masters of Sex," and "The Affair."

The network has several new shows on deck, including the Cameron Crowe/J.J. Abrams collaboration "Roadies," set to debut on June 26. Jim Carrey is executive producing a new series about stand up in the 1970s called "I'm Dying Up Here," and the revival of "Twin Peaks" will supposedly air in mid 2017.
