Amber Heard drops request for spousal support from Johnny Depp

Amber Heard apparently doesn't want Johnny Depp's financial help anymore.

Heard, the estranged wife of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" star, has withdrawn her request for temporary spousal support, People reports.

Heard had previously sought $50,000 a month in support until the couple's divorce is completed.

In court papers filed Monday, Heard said she's abandoning the request for support because she believes the request is being "used against me to distract and divert the public away from the very serious real issue of domestic violence."

As for why she requested the support in the first place, Heard stated that it is "standard operating procedure" when there's a "great disparity" in income between parties.

Heard, who filed for divorce from Depp on May 23 after little more than a year of marriage to the actor, was granted a temporary restraining order days later, after claiming that domestic violence. The actress said that Depp had been abusive throughout their relationship, but cited multiple specific incidents, including a May 21 incident in which Depp allegedly struck her in the face with a cell phone.

Depp's lawyer has filed papers claiming that Heard "is attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse," adding, "Amber's anger certainly cannot drive this dissolution proceeding."

A hearing on the restraining order is scheduled for Friday.
