The George Twins dish out invaluable advice to aspiring musicians

Updated

Being a professional musician may look fabulous on the outside, but it takes a lot of grunt work to make it big in Hollywood. From the grueling tour process to the long hours in the studio, aspiring musicians have it tough. If anyone knows this, it's The George Twins.

The duo was met with rejection after their audition for The X Factor. But when one door closes another one opens. Luckily, Alan Powell from the band Anthem Lights noticed the talented twins and took them under his wing. His encouragement and advice to go digital helped kickstart The George Twins's viral YouTube account. And the rest is history.

Tyler and Jordan George's unique journey to social stardom proved to be invaluable and the two have since picked up some sage wisdom along the way. We recently spoke with The George Twins after their Good Times tour stop in Nashville about what advice they have for up-and-coming singer/songwriters -- and it's incredible. Ahead, find out what they believe is crucial to making it in the entertainment industry.

Take us behind the scenes of your original song-writing process -- what is that like for you both? Who plays what part?
We love this question. We are songwriters at heart and so what we typically do is pull from past or current experiences and just start talking out lyrics and humming a melody. Jordan usually comes up with the melodies and Tyler usually comes up with the lyrics but we it goes both ways.

Where do you see the progression of your music going in the next few years?
As for where we see our music going, we are super excited to show our fans what we have been working on lately. When we first began our career we were definitely a POP band. However, as the years have gone by we have honed our sound and come up with a sound that we describe as "Pop sprinkled with Soul." We love oldies music and you can look forward to hearing a little throwback feel in our next EP.

What's the one piece of advice you have for other up-and-coming musicians?
KNOW WHO YOU ARE. Its ok to take things slow, to pass on good opportunities, and wait for the great ones. If you want to do this thing for the rest of your life don't settle for insta-success. Allow yourself to be shaped by your trials but always know WHO YOU ARE because if you don't this industry will change you.
