According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, about 138 million people are currently employed in the US.

We recently sifted through the BLS' Occupational Employment and Wage Estimates survey to see the breakdown of the jobs these people hold — and how much they make.

The survey, which reflects May 2015 salary and employment data gathered from more than 1 million businesses, shows that "retail salesperson" is the most common gig in America. On average, they earn $26,340 a year.
