Dan Aykroyd Says New Ghostbusters Is Better Than The Original!

Dan Aykroyd says fans are going to like the new Ghostbusters film, maybe even more than the first two movies.

The actor, who starred in and co-wrote the original 1984 film, said this weekend over social media that he saw a test screening of Paul Feig's female-led picture and he was pleased.

"Apart from brilliant, genuine performances from the cast both female and male, it has more laughs and more scares than the first 2 films plus Bill Murray is in it!" Aykroyd wrote on Facebook. "As one of millions of man-fans and Ray Stantz, I'm paying to see that and bringing all my friends!"

Aykroyd is listed as an executive producer on the reboot. The supernatural comedy/action film stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones and Chris Hemsworth.

The Sony film made news shortly after the first trailer was released, becoming the most disliked movie trailer in YouTube history. Still, the trailer did fare better on Facebook with the "likes" outweighing the negative icons.

A second trailer was recently released, first on Twitter and Facebook.

Almost all surviving members of the original Ghostbusters cast will made an appearance in the reboot, including Aykroyd. Rick Moranis passed on an offer to be in the film.

Ghostbusters is set to hit theaters July 15.
