Gucci Mane is a free man.

After nearly three years in a federal prison on gun and drug charges, the iconic Atlanta rapper was officially released, according to multiple sources. He had most recently been held in a federal penitentiary in Indiana after pleading guilty in May 2014, receiving a 39-month sentence. As of press time, it was unclear whether he's at home or in a halfway house. He was arrested Sept. 13, 2013, after a bizarre multi-day Twitter tirade that took aim at several members of the hip-hop community and music industry at large.

Gucci Mane Writes Letter From Prison: 'Spiritually, I'm Free as Ever'

While behind bars, Gucci -- widely regarded as one of the most influential Atlanta rappers of the last decade, if not hip-hop as a whole -- didn't stay idle, releasing more than a dozen mixtapes from prison and collaborating with the likes of Migos, Young Thug, Rich the Kid and Peewee Longway, among many others. The common "Free Gucci!" or "Free Guwop" (one of his myriad nicknames) catchphrase has popped up in a slew of hip-hop songs in the past few years.

Billboard was unable to reach Gucci's attorney for comment by press time. We will update this story as more information becomes available.
