Take us behind the scenes of your videos from start to finish -- what happens?
I like to visualize everything at first. It's not even about the look I'm doing more so than the story I'm telling. What is the background going to look like? What music will I use for this? It's more evoking a feeling and sharing an experience as opposed to what instructions I'm going to offer. It's centered around colors, music, the overall vibe. Those are the conceptual things I map out in my head before I start thinking about the look I do.

Where are you pulling your looks?
It's a combination of requests and trends and season, plus things that I like as well. I try to balance those things out as much as possible. It's also hard to make sure you're not doing the same thing over and over again because each of us has their own style and we tend to stick to a certain makeup look. I try to mix it up as much as possible.

Your makeup translate really well to everyday looks. How important is accessibility to you when it comes to creating makeup looks?
Very important. It's not very often that I do avant-garde looks, those are mostly for Halloween. And actually they do really well because I put a lot into those videos, but I put myself in the shoes of anyone else. I really ask myself what would be useful to me if I wasn't doing this. People recreate the looks and tag me, and they say "I wore this look you did for my anniversary with my husband, and he loved it!" or "I wear this to school, it's so easy and I can create it in five minutes." So it's very important to me that people use my videos and not just watch them.

What's your relationship like with your fans?
My supports are great because they come to me for makeup advice, but if I'm ever and out and if people notice me, they come up to me and talk to me as if we've known each other for years. It's exactly the relationship I want to have. I want people to come on this experience with me and watch me grow and do these exciting projects.

What piece of advice do you wish someone had given you before you started?
Show more of your personality. It's not about how professional you are or how good the finished product looks. People want to learn more about you as a person. And I've slowly been unveiling more and more of myself over the last couple of years and that's just created a stronger bond with my viewers.

Where do you see your career going in the next few years?
It's great because more and more brands are wanting to collaborate with bigger campaigns than ever before. Before, I used to do one-off brand deals which is great. But now it's full on campaigns. I think it moving into the traditional space, and not just digital. That's exciting for me because I started in the traditional space. That's definitely where it's going I think.
