Chris Daughtry reveals which 'Walking Dead' character he auditioned for

Chris Daughtry recently starred as Judas in the televised live version of The Passion, but there's yet another role he covets.

Speaking with Music Times, the American Idol alum revealed he's been all-out, no-holds-barred trying to get on his favorite show, The Walking Dead. Apparently, he auditioned for the role of Dwight. Here's what he had to say:

"Honestly I've been lobbying for The Walking Dead. I've been auditioning for the last season. You know the stringy blonde-haired dude with the half burnt face? That was the role that I auditioned for. We hate him, so maybe it's a good thing I didn't get him because I'll have a more beloved role."

He went on to talk about how he follows a lot of shows -- mostly superhero ones -- but Walking Dead is the one he can't get out of his head: "I'm spending hours developing theories on who got killed, and rewatching the finale to pick up little clues."

In the same interview, Daughtry also gave a peek into the backstory of his Passion role. He was dying to get more involved with acting, but was hesitant to accept the role since it was so intertwined with music. Apparently, producer Adam Anders won him over with one of the songs his character was slotted to sing -- R.E.M.'s "Losing My Religion." But the track couldn't get cleared and the next choice -- Evanescence's "Bring Me to Life" -- left Daughtry indecisive. In the end, Anders' rendition helped win him over again.
