Bon Jovi fans won't have much longer to wait for new music.

In an interview with CBS This Morning co-host Gayle King, Jon Bon Jovi revealed that the record, This House Is Not For Sale, will finally come out this September.

The group previously released a "fan album" -- Burning Bridges -- last summer after parting ways with their record label, Mercury Records. The forthcoming album will be the first full album without former guitarist Richie Sambora, who left the band in 2013.

"I haven't seen him in over three years. He just didn't show up for work anymore. And that's the truth of the matter," Bon Jovi said. "And, you know, life goes on."

Bon Jovi sat down with King at the opening of the Toms River, New Jersey B.E.A.T. Center (Bringing Everyone All Together). The Hooper Avenue location is home to a second restaurant -- The Soul Kitchen -- as well as a food pantry, food bank and teaching kitchen.

In previous interviews, Sambora said his decision to leave the band was due to the grueling schedule of road life, and that he needed a change.

Bon Jovi said there are no hard feelings, because "being in a rock band is not a life sentence."

"You have other things in your life that you care to do. But it's okay, because you share your art as long as you choose to share it," he said. "You know, you don't have to do this for a living -- you choose to do it for a living."

Interestingly, Bon Jovi revealed that performing is not his favorite part of his career, and that the art of songwriting is the "greatest thing."

"When I write a song, that's when the magic happens. Having written something that's going to be around long after we're all gone is as close to immortality as we'll ever be," Bon Jovi said.
