The 31 Best Boundary-Pushing Met Gala Beauty Looks

When a red carpet event has such a specific theme each year, there are bound to be some hits and some misses. Stylists and fashionistas everywhere eagerly awaited to see how designers interpreted this year's 'Fashion in an Age of Technology' theme, and we were surprised at the lack of obvious technology, like light-up gowns, on display.

Despite that many attendees played it safe when it came to embodying the theme, there were still some utterly breathtaking ensembles -- and of course, some that were highly questionable.
