Quarterback Jared Goff was selected by the Los Angeles Rams with the first pick in Thursday's National Football League Draft.

The 21-year-old Goff, who possesses good size at 6-foot-4 (1.93 m), a strong arm and mobility in the pocket, was a three-year starter at University of California, Berkeley, and last season set Pac-12 conference records for passing yards and touchdowns.

The Rams, who finished third in the NFL West with a 7-9 record, were initially slotted for the 15th selection but sent a passel of picks to the Tennessee Titans (3-13) to move up to the number one overall choice ahead of their first season back in Los Angeles after 21 campaigns in St Louis.

The Rams gave up the No. 15 pick as well as two second-round picks, a third-round pick and first and third-round picks next year, while receiving the Titans' fourth and sixth-round picks this year.
