A father in India is being charged with attempted murder after attacking his baby daughter's accused rapist in a gruesome way.

The Washington Post reports that two years ago, the 14-year-old boy allegedly molested the 7-month-old girl in the Bathinda district. After a hearing about the case on April 19, 2016, the victim's father, 25-year-old Parminder Singh, is believed to have approached the suspect about the possibility of a settlement.

Singh then offered the suspect a ride to their village. On the way, he allegedly stopped, attacked the teenager after tying him to a tree, and eventually cut off his hands.

A local police officer has confirmed to the AFP, "There is nothing below the wrists now."

Singh fled, and the teen was taken to the hospital for treatment. According to the Hindustan Times, he remains in critical condition. Meanwhile, police are continuing to search for the father.
