Witchell alluded to this criticism, which names William as the "slightly reluctant royal" and "Work-shy William," due to his level of involvement in royal duties. In response to this inquiry, William was steadfast in his believe that his priorities are in the right place: With his family.

"To be honest, I'm going to get plenty of criticism over my lifetime. It's something that I don't completely ignore, but it's not something I take completely to heart," he said matter-of-factly. "I'm concentrating very much on my role as a father; I'm a new father, and I take my duties and responsibilities to my family very seriously. I want to raise my children as good people and, you know, the idea of service and duty to others is very important, but if I can't give my time to my children as well, then I worry about their future."

The Prince insisted that he takes his royal duties "very seriously, but it's about finding your own way at the right time."

"If you're not careful," he continued. "Duty can weigh you down an awful lot at a very early age. You've got to develop into the duty role."

The revealing tell-all also touched upon what William has learned from his 89-year-old grandmother, who turns 90 on Thursday.

"The Queen's duty, service, tolerance and commitment to others -- that's all been incredibly important to me and a real guiding example of what a good monarch can be," he gushed. "It's been incredibly insightful for me growing up and watching her."
