Within minutes of the Democratic debate's start on Thursday night, sparks began to fly between former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Senator Bernie Sanders.

"Sen. Sanders did call me unqualified," Clinton quipped during her opening statement. "I've been called a lot of things in my life -- that was a first."

Clinton was asked why she will not release the transcripts of her speeches on Wall Street, and the Brooklyn crowd immediately booed.

She deflected her answer during the tense moment to take a shot at Sanders. The Democratic front-runner called out her opponent for not releasing his tax returns.

When pushed by CNN co-moderator Dana Bash to clarify her stance on releasing the speech transcripts, Clinton said "there isn't an issue" and added that when she was serving as a N.Y. senator she "did stand up to the banks."

Clinton said if it was a policy and it was the "same standard for everybody" then she would then release them. She then flipped the conversation to take aim at Sanders. The 2016 hopeful said the same standard should be set on tax returns, saying she has released years of tax returns, but Sanders has not.

Sanders quickly responded. He said he would release them "very shortly," and ultimately said he would be releasing his 2014 tax return tomorrow.
