Parents Use Billboard in Attempt to Reach Out to Children in Scientology

(KTLA) -- Phil and Willie Jones banded together with other families this week to launch a very public and visible appeal to their children using a billboard in Echo Park that simply states, "To my loved one in Scientology ... call me."

The couple were involved with Scientology for 40 years, starting when they were just teenagers.

Their two children -- a son and daughter -- grew up in the organization, according to Phil Jones.

Years later, the couple left Scientology and have since become outspoken critics of the organization, they told KTLA.

Their children, however, chose to stay with Scientology and cut all ties with their parents, Phil Jones said.

The couple described their current situation as "heartbreaking."
