It's time to trade in the thick coats and chunky knit scarves for breathable cotton, pleated chiffon, and all the florals you can get your hands on. Classic trench coats, silk scarves and pretty pastel pieces are on their way!

Think flirty, flowing fabrics with tons of movement or structured garments that that really show off your shape. This doesn't mean you have to pack away your winter clothes either (with the exception of your down coat; go ahead and say goodbye to that for another year). It's all about investing in pieces that work for you every season.

To transition effortlessly into spring, look for a few key pieces that will help you bring your winter wardrobe into the warmer months.

Here are my top pieces for transitioning into spring:

Classic trench coat – They're so incredibly classic and never go out of style (like the gorgeous SheInside one I'm wearing in this post). Go ahead and channel your inner Audrey Hepburn. Check out some of my favorites here: White Coat by Lavand, Blue Trench by Vero Moda, Navy by First and I

Monogrammed clutch – Give your shoulders a break and carry fewer things with you this season. Carry around just the essentials in a chic, personalized clutch.

Knit sweater set – This sweater set will show up again and again all year round. Pair the crop top with high-waisted shorts when the temperatures rise or with thicker wool culottes for colder days. When in doubt, style the sweater set together for an effortlessly chic look.

Bold pink lipstick – Picking out a gorgeous new lip color is a great way to play with the colors that are associated with spring. I'm especially in love with this MAC lipstick in Pink Nouveau and this NYX lipstick in Hot Pink.

Pleated pink midi skirt – The standout silhouette mixed with the ultra-feminine color makes this skirt versatile on so many levels. Pair the skirt with knee high boots, a long sweatshirt and heels, or toughen it up a with a cropped moto jacket. Go for a simple version that can be styled with everything like this one from ASOS.

Military jacket – Layer this over all your looks for a more laid back feel that still looks chic.
