Hugh Jackman got to be a superhero for real on Saturday when he appeared to rescue his son and another swimmer from a riptide at Australia's Bondi Beach.

In the video from Australia's 9 News (below), Jackman is seen grabbing the arm of another swimmer as the riptide hits the beach. Jackman then swims over to his son, Oscar, and the two make their way back to shore.

Jackman most recently appeared in the film "Eddie the Eagle" with Taron Egerton. The film is based on the true story of British Olympian Michael "Eddie" Edwards (Egerton), who learns to ski jump from a former champion who now drives a snow plow (Jackman).

The Australian actor is perhaps best known for playing Wolverine in the "X-Men" franchise. While he is not scheduled to appear in the upcoming film "X-Men: Apocalypse," Jackman will play the claw-sporting character one more time.

Jackman announced last year that when he next plays the character in the untitled "Wolverine" sequel, it will be his last.
