Posy: the new style app you totally need in your life

While there's nothing quite as handy as having a super-stylish bestie on hand to critique your latest wardrobe choice, there inevitably comes a time when you're on your own. You face the mirror. You ask it if this season's florals-and-retro-suede-combo really is for you, but it stares blankly back. If only you had a community of discerning fashion-lovers on hand to give advice and make suggestions. Wouldn't that be a dream?

Well dreams do come true. OK, not the one where Alexander Wang names a handbag after you. But this one did. It's called Posy.

The premise behind Posy is so brilliantly simple, we fell in love with it the moment it fluttered out of the ether and onto our radar. Unlike most fashion apps which focus on shopping, Posy is all about getting feedback and advice on your style choices. New hairstyle? New heels? Unsure of how to mix your plaids and stripes? Go to the polls. Post a pic to Posy and get votes and comments from other fashionistas. You'll never be stuck for a second opinion again.

Our biggest question when we discovered the app was, what makes it more than, say, just a niche version of Instagram? And the answer is, the community. Followers here aren't mindlessly peeping a pic of your new boyfriend jeans in between a barrage of gym selfies, sunsets, and smoothies, they're here because fashion. They're here to give advice, make suggestions, collaborate on styling ideas. They're here to inspire, and be inspired.

Uniquely, Posy has a 'leave a comment to read a comment' policy which promotes interaction, while its 'compliments' feature allows members to be awarded style accolades from peers. We totally love the thinking behind this: how many apps out there are designed to foster genuine connection, support, and positivity? If you answered "not enough", then you'd be right. The world needs more of that. And Posy is just as valuable to the everyday girl on the path to shaping her own personal style as it is to the established fashion blogger.

On top of everything else, the app is cleanly designed, free, and super-simple to use. What more need be said? Jump on and get your community of fashion friends started right now. Posy is currently available in the App Store.
