Rihanna will receive the Rock Star Award at this year's Black Girls Rock! Awards on BET Networks. This year's ceremony will be taped April 1 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, New Jersey. BET will premiere the special on April 5 (8 p.m. ET).

Rihanna's 'Work' Rules Hot 100 for Fourth Week

The Grammy Award-winning singer's fellow 2016 honorees include producer/writer Shonda Rhimes (Shot Caller Award), R&B icon Gladys Knight (Living Legend Award), The Walking Dead actress Danai Gurira (Star Power Award), actress/activist Amandla Stenberg (Young, Gifted and Black Award) and Black Lives Matter founders Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza and Opal Tometi. Actress Tracee Ellis Ross will host the event.

Founder/CEO Beverly Bond created Black Girls Rock!, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary as a movement and sixth televised broadcast on BET.
