Adam Lambert to return to 'American Idol' next week for final performance

American Idol alum Adam Lambertwill return to the show for next Thursday night's program.

The Season 8 alum is taking time out from his Original High tour for what is being billed as "a very special final performance."

The remaining six American Idol contestants -- La'Porsha Renae, Trent Harmon, Dalton Rapattoni, Tristan McIntosh, Sonika Vaid, and MacKenzie Bourg -- will sing songs picked by America for a theme week billed as "America's Choice".

Also, only one contestant will be sent home next week. The past two weeks have been double eliminations.

American Idol will air 8 p.m. ET March 17 on Fox.
