Cops: Parents used stun gun to discipline kids

Police in southwest Florida have arrested two parents on charges they used a stun gun to discipline their children.

The Lee County Sheriff's Department arrested Joshua Louis, 28, and Roxanne Paduani, 33, on Thursday after a report was filed with the Department of Children and Families, the News-Press reports.

According to authorities, one of the couple's four children told police they used the device on them when they were bad and reportedly showed police marks left behind.

"They were using it as a tool to deter the children from misbehaving," a sheriff's office report said. "The stun gun inflicted pain compliance on the children and left visible marks on two of the children."

Paduani reportedly told an investigator sparked a handheld stun gun to warn one of the children, but denied ever using it on the children.

Authorities said the child told them that Louis did the tasing and that Paduani knew about it but was never present when it happened.

A DCF spokesman said the children have been placed safely with family members.

Paduani was booked Thursday on two charges of cruelty to a child. She is being held on $200,000 bond.

Louis was also arrested Thursday and booked on four charges of cruelty to a child. He is being held on $400,000 bond.

Both Paduani and Louis are due in court April 4.
