A Book and a Rose: World Book Day in Spain

There is something magical about books. They transport you to an alternate world full of mystery, intrigue, excitement -- a place where your imagination is consumed with vivid imagery and wonder.

As children (and ahem, still as adults) books were the source to our heroes, favorite characters and the villains we love to hate.

In the United Kingdom, thousands of kids dressed up as their favorite book characters in honor of #WorldBookDay and we rounded up the most adorable (and coolest) costumes from around the country.

From Thing 1 and Thing 2 to the Queen of Hearts, kids and adults alike put their best costume forward on this bookwormish day.
