Nina trailer: Your Internet comments did not stop Zoe Saldana from playing Nina Simone
Despite widespread opposition to her casting, Zoe Saldana went ahead and took the money and artistic fulfillment that comes with playing Nina Simone: After a few years on the shelf, her biopic Nina will be released next month. Wednesday brings its first trailer, which sees a noticeably darker Saldana playing the late singer during her years living in exile in France. David Oyelowo co-stars as her manager, and — wouldn't you know it — there's controversy over that part, too.
