Caitlyn Jenner admits Democrats are better than Republicans on trans issues

Caitlyn Jenner has always ascertained that she is a staunch Republican, and, talking with Today's Natalie Morales in an interview that aired Wednesday morning, she revealed her discussions about politics with her trans friends have become heated.

"The politics was tough on the bus,'' Jenner said, referring to the conversation she had with trans friends on a bus trip. "I admit that the Democrats, as far as trans issues, are better than the Republicans."

But without expressing support for a particular candidate, Jenner said she's still a Republican and indicated she would approach whoever becomes the nominee.

"I sit on the Republican side, and when we do get a candidate, I certainly will talk to them," she said.

Jenner, speaking further about her transition, said that she "woke up happy" recently, and realized it had been a long time since she had done so. When Morales brought up how Jenner has been able to afford the best doctors and transition in a way not often available to most trans people, Jenner said that she also had to to it under a spotlight.

"Most trans people ... can deal with their issues in private,'' she said. "Mine was being publicly displayed all around the world."

The reality star recently alluded to the fact she may start dating men soon and elaborated on her love life to Morales.

"I know people are always interested in that,'' Jenner said when the topic was broached. "I get that. For me, it is probably less of an issue than it is for everybody else. Right now, I am just so busy kind of doing what I'm doing, but it would be nice to kind of share your life with somebody. But hey, I'm open."
