Looks like the fallout from his Oscars blunder has proven to be a bit too much for Sam Smith.

The British singer-songwriter, who won the Oscar for Best Original Song at Sunday's Academy Awards, took to Twitter on Tuesday to reveal that he's taking a page from Ed Sheeran's book by going on an alleged hiatus from social media. The length of the break is unclear, though.

"I'm logging off for a while," he tweeted. "Some Martinis shaken not stirred are definitely in order."

The controversy, of course, arose after Smith mistakenly claimed to be the first openly gay male to ever win an Oscar and then subsequently continued to disrespect the first openly gay man to win the Best Original Song award by saying that he "should date" him (He passed away from HIV-related complications in 1991.).

Smith was also called out by Oscar-winning writer Dustin Lance Black on Twitter.
