Lady Gaga's Oscar night is already set to be one of the biggest evenings of her life -- not only is she performing, she's up for best original song thanks to "Til It Happens to You," her contribution to The Hunting Ground, a documentary about rape on college campuses. While co-composer Diane Warren won't be joining Gaga on stage, it seems someone from the executive office will.

Today (Feb. 25), White House officials revealed that Vice President Joe Biden will introduce Gaga at the 2016 Oscars as part of a performance that aims to raise awareness about sexual violence against women.

Biden's involvement isn't as random as it may initially seem. The former Delaware senator was the primary author of the Violence Against Women Act, which President Clinton signed into law in 1994.
