A 16-episode visual interpretation of David Bowie's final album, "Blackstar," is set to debut exclusively this week on Facebook's Instagram.

The influential rock star, who died Jan. 10, last fall provided music and images from "Blackstar" to InstaMiniSeries, a startup that creates episodic programming exclusively for Instagram.

The result is "Unbound: A Blackstar InstaMiniSeries." Completed in December 2015, the series will take viewers "on a journey of evocative images inspired by the moods suggested in the album's music, lyrics and artwork," according to the producers.

The experience will be brief, owing to Instagram's restrictions on video length: Each episode will be approximately 15 seconds long, for a total running time of around four minutes for the whole project.

The first of the 16 "Unbound" episodes is slated to premiere Thursday, Feb. 25, at 8 p.m. Eastern, on InstaMiniSeries's Instagram page. New episodes will debut each subsequent Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Bowie's "Blackstar," released by ISO/Columbia Records two days before his death, debuted at No. 1 debut in more than 20 countries — including for the first time in the U.S. On Jan. 11, Bowie videos smashed Vevo's one-day record with 51 million views on the digital service.

According to InstaMiniSeries producers Nikki Borges and Carolynn Cecilia, Bowie provided them "unmediated access" to the album's music and images with "no limits or preconditions on his part."

"David Bowie has always been about reinvention over repetition," Borges said in announcing the project. "Remarkably honest and passionate in his work, his innovations have influenced our own work as we transform a social-media platform into a creative outlet. We are grateful to have the opportunity to participate with the chameleonic rock icon and honored to be entrusted with interpreting his art."

A teaser trailer for "Unbound" is available on Instagram here.
