15 pill abusers confess what it's like to be addicted to prescription drugs

Prescription pills are rampantly abused in the United States -- America, which is 5% of the world's population, consumes 75% of the world's prescription drugs. And while this includes people who are medically prescribed these drugs for pharmaceutical reasons, 52 million people in the US have used prescription drugs non-medically.

Several pill abusers took to Whisper, the popular app that provides an anonymous platform for people to share their most honest thoughts, to confess what it's really like to be addicted to prescription pills.

1. Being aware of how self-destructive your decisions are doesn't necessarily make nipping your addiction in the bud easier

2. Believing that you're weak might be part of the problem when it comes to stopping

4. Struggling between accepting help and striving for independence is a battle in and of itself

5. Unlike certain other drugs, prescription pills don't necessarily give an energetic high

11. Learning to live sober might be an intimidating thought for pill abusers

13. Fearing judgement can make you feel even more alone in your struggle with addiction

15. It might be easier to fall back into bad habits in times of trouble and sadness
I have a Pain pill addiction.. nobody in my family knows this. I have tried to quit but i keep running back to it every time something bad happens.
