"Creed" star Michael B. Jordan won both Entertainer of the Year and the best film actor prize at the NAACP Image Awards on Friday, while the N.W.A biopic "Straight Outta Compton" took home the prize for Outstanding Motion Picture.

In the top TV categories, Fox's "Empire" and ABC's "black-ish" dominated. The former took home prizes for best drama as well as for leads Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson.

Meanwhile, "black-ish" won for best comedy, as well as the top acting prizes for its stars, Tracee Ellis-Ross and Anthony Anderson. Anderson also hosted the ceremony, which was broadcast live on TV One from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.

Oscar-winning singer-songwriter John Legend was recognized with the President's Award.

The 47th annual NAACP Image Awards arrive at a time when Hollywood is focused on the issue of diversity in the industry, particularly given the lack of nonwhite acting nominees for the Oscars for the second straight year.

"Empire" star Jussie Smollett, "Bessie" star Queen Latifah and singer Jill Scott were among the early winners announced at a dinner Thursday night.

Here are the nominees in the 10 major categories honored at Friday's ceremony.
